DJ Hero game is based on turnablism and featuring more than 80 remixes of two different songs from a selection of over 100 different songs across numerous genres. The game features both mode, single player career mode and cooperative/ competitive multiplayer modes. The best part of the game was the game also added in the features of a mode for selected song for a DJ player to play alongside with another player using a Guitar Hero guitar controller.

DJ Hero features score attack gameplay was kinda similar to the Guitar Hero games. The controller basically consists of a wireless deck that consist of a movable turntable that supports 3 “streams” buttons, an effects dial, a crossfader and a “Euphoria” button. Euphoria button was a hidden panel that contains additional controller buttons that used to interact with the gaming console outside the game. Some portion of the controller can also be detached and reattached to adapt the unit for left-handed players. Notes will travel in an arc across the spinning record on screen and the player will holds down one of the 3 stream buttons to play the notes.

Two buttons will reflect the two songs being used in that particular mix and third will represent the samples to add to the mix which can be adjusted with the effects dial that available there. Furthermore, same like the real DJ set player must constantly adjust the crossfader to match the on screen symbols. Particular tracks will be shown on the screen as a series of up or down arrow to be representing the scratching sections that required the player to turn the turntable in the direction of the arrows while holding down the button to score points.

“Euphoria” is equivalent to Guitar Hero’s Star Power. It can be collected by successfully completing specific phrases in the song mix and can be released by pressing the “Euphoria” button. Furthermore, there will also a “Rewind” meter that builds through consistent successful playing and once it was full, it will allow the player to rewind the song to fix errors in their performance. However, the player must continue to perform well or else their performance meter will still dropping and the music will still cut off.
