Nintendo Combats Piracy on its Home TurfBy joining with 54 game publishers, including Square Enix and Capcom, Nintendo is declaring a combat against the DS piracy by filing suit in Tokyo District Court in order to stop both import and sale of Majicon devices together towards the vendor who sell the devices. The Majicon devices are the flash cartridges where users can plug into their DS cartridge slot to play pirated games, and R4 Revolution is the common player.

A series of actions are taken under the lawsuit where the Kyoto gaming giant and others 54 publishers were successfully sued to stop both the import and sale of the Majicon. However, there are still some devices been sold online and in smaller game shop. Nintendo have sent warning letter to the respective retailers in April aiming to stop sale and damage for previous sold units, but getting negative result where the letters were ignored. A target has been set on four companies which to damage 479,700,000 yen, as stated by the Impress Watch.

Nintendo has also created a piracy snitch line at its Japanese corporate site. It allows the readers to fill out a form about information about the piracy. Information likes location (internet, retail and auction) where Majicon devices are sold and URLs for sites that offer game downloads are welcomed.
