Portal 2 has an updated release date and a new distributor. Valve announced this morning it has inked a deal with EA Partners to ship its highly anticipated sequel to Portal to retailers in April 2011.

Originally set to ship in time for the holidays, Valve delayed Portal 2 in June to “sometime in 2011.” That date was later nailed down as February 9, 2011. Last month Valve delayed the game again and announced the new release date as April 18, 2011. Today, that date moved slightly to April 21.

“Portal 2 is Valve’s most innovative title in the company’s history and will be launched with a first-class launch campaign this April,” said Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing at Valve. “We’re excited to be working with Electronic Arts to deliver this title as we expand our platform strategy to include the Mac and PlayStation 3 platforms.”

Portal 2 took the title of most-anticipated game of 2011 at the Spike TV Video Game Awards. The game will bring a host of fresh puzzles and a co-op mode to the franchise.
