The Champions League license adds authenticity and flair to Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.Pro Evolution Soccer never really did well last year on neither the Xbox 360 nor the PlayStation 3, but when the Wii debut was out, it attracted and impressed many. The latest Pro Evolution Soccor 2009 not only offers great UEFA Champions League but has a more improved Master League.

It may seem a little tough to get used to at first, but after some good practise; you’ll experience an easier football match. Like example, when you’re in possession of the ball, easily with the control system you’ll be able to head to wherever. Passing the ball is similar and this is why its control system is nothing but brilliant. You’re given a chance to perform like a footballer, controlling and dribbling with just one button.

Aside from that, the control system doesn’t fail to impress us further. It’s now improved as you can now pass the ball to another and then obtain the ball back, all by using the cursor. Fortunately, not much has been tampered with, the former soccer game that won our hearts is back to do so again. Playing against either AI or friends is very rewarding with the awesome control system. The AI isn’t one of those dumb AI’s that randomly passes the ball to you instead of its teammate. They’re fairly logical and realistic.

The latest installment brings us an excellent variety of game modes, but what stands out this year would be the Champions League mode, European glory can be obtained with your favourite clubs all over. However, what is pretty upsetting is that it lacks seven qualified teams, and two of the largest clubs in Europe – Arsenal and Chelsea.

Let that aside, there’s another challenge awaiting you from the Master League. We’ll feel like we’re playing an important role in the Beautiful Game. You’ll need to buy and sell players, and your final mission is always to win the cup. You’ll feel like a manager who needs to manage your team well in order to advance to greater heights. There are other modes like the Become a Legend mode that also gives you a taste of the road to become a Legend.

The multiplayer mode does play another good role in the game. The online multiplayer is well developed; you can keep track of your rivals of their win and losses throughout the year. Whereas offline mode lets two use the remote and nunchuk, but the other two friends will need to use the Wii Remote or a Classic Controller.

Lastly, the graphics are decent and realistic, but some animations might look a bit out of place. With its Champions League and Master League mode, and its new improved modes, what’s not to like about it? It’s definitely worth checking out.
