You can hide in the bushes when it's bright outside.Replay Studios brings you another stealth action video game that is inspired by the World War II – Velvet Assassin. Your duty as an espionage agent forces you to travel in the dark, slowly and silently sneaking around to sabotage the Nazi war. As you carry out your missions, you’ll slowly understand how inhumane and brutal war is when you experience innocent souls being slaughtered for no reason. However, lousy gunplay in Velvet Assassin will not likely impress. You take control of a Violette Summer, whose duty is to obtain information to bring down the Germans. When the game begins, Violette can be seen lying helplessly after failing to accomplish a mission. Soon, you as Violette, who took a series of drugs soon causes you to fall into slumber and experience a series of past missions.

You will single-handedly take on the Germans; sometimes you’ll need to eliminate a certain war criminal, other times you might need to destroy a fuel depot.  You’ll mostly be spending your time in the dark, and in order to accomplish your goals, stealth is vital. Patience is virtue, as every mission requires you to think and carefully wait for the perfect timing to creep past your enemies.  If you ever need to actually kill one, you can always suffocate them with toxic gas or sometimes pull the pin off a grenade. One of the ways to eliminate your enemies is through morphine. You can drug your way to escape from your enemies’ clutches or execute them but with such a power, there’s bound to be a limit, so your supermove isn’t 100% reliable.

Relying on your firearms is one of the ways to kill your foes too, but with the sluggish and lousy gunplay, the game doesn’t provide satisfying deaths. Guns isn’t exactly your main weapon, being undetectable is. The stealth atmosphere is pretty rewarding and impressive, but some levels can either be unique or unrealistic. The music is eerie and suitable to make you feel like you’re experiencing real and dramatic scenery. Unfortunately, you’ll feel like you’re up against a bunch of robots, as the AI’s walk along a preset path, and to make things worse, they aren’t made to sense your shadows or even react to blown up fuse boxes. The stupidity of your enemies can be pretty disturbing.

Even though your enemies are just plain stupid, they are still manufactured to create a feeling of empathy unlike other war games. You’ll be able to eavesdrop on conversations to obtain vital information to bring down your opponents. Overall, Velvet Assassin creates one awesome atmosphere to make sure our interests are preserved. Creeping and stalking slowly through the game makes us tense and when you manage to pull off one of these inhumane objectives you’ll be deeply satisfied.
